During Jean-Paul Gaultier's time at
Hermès, he revolutionized the house's classic styles in many new and exciting ways. One of the most enduring of his updated designs is the Kelly Pochette, which has now been in production for close to twenty years.
Hermès Lizard bags are overall rarer than crocodile and alligator bags, and just like the larger scaled exotics, Lizard is produced in two finishes. Glossy Nilo Lizard is the most often used, but
Hermès occasionally produces bags in matte Salvatore Lizard. This black Kelly Pochette is one such example. The ridges of the small scales become much more pronounced in this finish, giving the skin a texture like fine beads. This is an extremely rare pochette, and a very chic piece; the shiny palladium hardware brings out the matte of the lizard to a spectacular effect. Maintained in excellent condition for over ten years, this clutch has an ageless cool and sophistication.
